New Theme Released

Today is the day, a new theme has been “finished” for JonathanNation.com.

By finished, there is more that could be improved upon, but it will be staying on at least for  the foreseeable future.

Good Things
There is a lot of stuff that makes me smile about this theme:

  • wrap around background image – currently it is Tyler, but could be any image.
  • no bad boxes – on the front page, you don’t have greyed out area, no matter how tall a box is, the box next to it is the same height.
  • all subpages work – the gallery works, as do series, blog, and other style pages.
  • thumbnails on the main page are random

To Do
There are a number of things I want to do in the future, but now I need to get back to other things:

  • better organize data – some of the pages in the top nav don’t work to the level I want
  • dynamic tabs – the tabs on the home page are not dynamic, thus not easily controlled by the admin page, unacceptable.
  • home page dynamics – there are some little things, like this post will show up too many places on the front page. This is a pretty easy fix, but is not as high priority today.
  • series – the nav on this page does not go to the page … yet. Also, there is some dynamic issues to be added.

I am sure there is more, but this is just a sample of the direction. Now to finish a few more sites. I sketched out this theme on Sunday, and releasing it on Wednesday, about two days worth of work.
