Newsboys Remix Party – Less is More

Generally, I am a sucker anytime a band I know of puts out the tracks for the public to remix.

A couple days ago I stumbled across a link to Newsboys.com/remix

Within an hour I had:

  • downloaded all the tracks
  • loaded up into an audio editor
  • familiarized myself with the sound on each track
  • came up with a vision – start with the lead vocal and add in a minimum audio, but still keep a good beat
  • generated my first draft

At that point, I really had not listened to the original song, at least not in a few months since my last Zune Pass ran out.

Thursday morning, I upload the song to the contest (this was after a quick email with Greg Seneff, a copyright lawyer, about the rules).

I then listened to both my remix & one of the ones they provided & realized I could improve.

The interments were too low, adding in the female background vocals in one or two parts would add a lot, and some fading of tracks a couple places.

In the end, I came up with this: Way Beyond Myself – Less is More Nation 2

This is a part of a competition, and I would not mind winning, so if you would – go to the page and “vote”.

Also, if you want to hear the first version I did, it can be found on my soundcloud profile.
