Getting there – Bill Hybels

Presentation by Bill Hybels

If the fundamental objective of leadership is to get people to move from here to there:

The biggest issue is that a portion of people will not want to “go”.

A key is to show “them” why the status quo does not work.

When doing formal debates the general strategy is:
1. Status quo
2. Solution
3. More Disadvantages of status quo
4. Advantages of the solution

Fantastic People
To get there, it takes fantastic people.

When looking for the right fantastic people,  you have to understand yourself to know if they will fit into your culture.

You need to tell the people who you would have to leave that you appreciate and value them & if anything demotivates them “let me know”.

There are some people who don’t fit in your culture & are already on your team. Tough conversations might be needed.

Mile Markers & Celebrations
It’s not the start or finish parts of a race that are the toughest — it’s the middle.

– to do –
Refill the vision bucket
Celebrate *every* milestone

When was the last time you celebrated progress, not completion, but hitting a milestone?

When people come to mind – reach out to them.
You never know what is going on in their lives …
