JON.com Update
As changes are made here to JonathanNation.com, we make posts.
This series is the collection of those posts, so you can start from the beginning and follow to the end. If you want the most recent, try Topics:Projects: Site News.
random quotations
For a long time I have collected quotations that I like. I have them in notebooks, books of them, old blogs, and other locations.
I am slowly bringing them over and throwing them into the Quotations Category, but a few days ago I had added the most recent one to the standard article page.
Today I sat down to make instead of showing the most recent, I wanted a random one to show.
Now that is what is shows.
I expect to add the quotations other places too, especially as I add more and more over time.

At this point we have lots of sites in various stages of development, including this one.
The good news is Wordpress, the system we use for the back-end/behind the scenes/CMS is coming out with a great update that will make it even more powerful. The bad news is because the update is so soon, all the theme development is on hold until we get to play with the released version.
We look forward to Wordpress v2.7, threaded comments have always been a major advantage over just cronological or flat comments. Being able to visually see what a comment is replying to is just such an advantage. They are also moving more and more to being the best CMS it can be, as opposed to just being some blog software as it first started out.
Posted: December 6, 20082.7 is out, now what?
All website development projects were put on hold recently when it was learned that wordpress v2.7 was close to being released.
Going from v2.6.5 to v2.7 is a big change, and thus every site we manage we knew would need to be updated, so why build a new site in the old version when I knew I could wait just a little while and start with the new hotness.
Now that v2.7 is out, the primary focus is the paying clients who don’t have a website (because we are building it). After that comes the most important company site, then the next, etc, and somewhere in there this personal site (not saying what is the most important).
The biggest change that most people pick up on is the new approach to the administration pages, where you post stuff, manage the site, etc, however there are also some fundamental changes in the comment system and a few other things.
It is interesting to me that the wordpress people still view wordpress as a blog software, where I still view it as a great content management system, and it is even better now.
