new release of albums?
Today I was looking through my RSS Reader and found a “listening party” for the new Newsboys cd that came out this week.
I went to the site and they have this player:
pixture, I could not get the stupid thing to not autoplay, so I ripped it out of this post. Find the original at the Newsboys site.
In looking at it and listening to the songs, I wonder – is this the future of releasing a new CD?
A few features I picked up on:
- you can watch a music video
- you can purchase thorough the widget
- you can listen to the entire album (at least the standard version – there is a deluxe)
- other info though the widget
- easily share on other places, including social media networks
Between sharing anywhere & playing the entire album, this is pretty cool.
Not to mention, from the perspective of the band – they can always turn the widget off.
The other down side for people who might put this on their site is you are giving up some control of your site to some third party. If Newsboys (or really Unik in this case) gets hacked, your site could then show stuff you really don’t want.
