The Tree & The Grand Tetons

September 17, 2008

WY 2008-08 Grand Tetons - Tree.jpg
I am not exactly sure why, but at some point an image popped into my head and I could not get it out.

It was of a single tree in this massive mostly flat plains with the Grand Tetons in the distance. So for about two days as we drove around I would look for trees that might fit this image I had so vivid in my head. This is the closest shot I ever got on this trip.

It does not do the best job showing visually how massive this small corner of Wyoming really is. How tall the Grand Tetons are compared to how they look at this distance. Nor, how undeveloped our world really is if all you know is city life.

This midsized animal was just posting away for us and a few other hikers as we come down from Inspiration Point and hiked around the lake.

At Inspiration Point we meet a friend; this image is taken with no zoom & I think he wanted to eat my camera.

Reflection of Grand Tetons

Apparently this is one shot that many people attempt. I managed to get it a couple times, once with people kayaking in the water.

We stayed a few nights in the Grand Tetons National Park.

Yellowstone Elk

Yellowstone Elk
We did not see many Elk on this trip, though when someone did it was easy to spot because in Yellowstone if someone sees any wildlife they just stop in the middle of the road.

Yellowstone Bison

Yellowstone Bison
There were lots of groups of Bison all over Yellowstone. There were a few times where we managed to get pretty close to them.

We saw several of those across the river, cross the river.
